Jun 05, 2011 - CQC launches Consultation on New Excellence Award

In April 2012, a new excellence award scheme will launch for adult social care services in England. This new voluntary award will be delivered by third party organisations under licence to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The new excellence award will recognise social care services providing the very best outcomes for people and is open to all providers registered with the CQC in relation to activities (defined by Schedule 1 of the Health and Social Care Act 2009).  Activities include rehabilitation.

CQC is now seeking feedback on its plans so as to help refine the definition of excellence and shape the design of the new awards in the period before it launches. More specifically, the CQC Consultation is requesting views on:

•Its proposed principles for the new excellence award
•The definition of excellence developed by SCIE
•Key aspects of the assessment process

The consultation will close on Monday, 1 August 2011. To read more about the proposed Award and to participate in the Consultation, click here.
